About Us
Mission Statement:
The Jefferson Child Care and Education Center is a not-for -profit state licensed organization committed to providing affordable, quality and developmentally appropriate care for children from infancy to school-age. The individual needs of each child are recognized and addressed.
Educational Philosophy:
We recognize that children develop physically, emotionally and socially at their own individual pace. The Jefferson Child Care and Education Center provides an environment that offers children opportunities to grow and learn through a developmentally appropriate curriculum, which recognizes and addresses the needs of each child.
History:
The Jefferson Child Care and Education Center was incorporated in 1974 and housed in the original one room schoolhouse owned by the Township of Jefferson. At that time, the Center received Title XX funds to provide preschool care for 26 children from low-income families. In 1995, an addition to the Center made it possible to increase the number of children served. Funding from the State Division of Family Development and United Way of Morris County provides scholarship assistance to families. Approximately one third of the preschool children served receive a scholarship to assist with the cost of tuition.
Since 1983, the Center has also provided Before and After Kindergarten Care, Before and After School Care. These Programs are located in Jefferson Township Public School Buildings and serve approximately 160 children.
Part day preschool care is offered in our Milton program and is in partnership with the Jefferson Township Public Schools.
We are now ready to again respond to the needs of the community by adding Infant and Toddler programs.
